Many feared dead as commercial bus plunges into Edo river

- A commercial bus lost control and plunged into a river in Edo state

- Many of the passengers could not be rescued alive, according to reports from eye-witness

Many passengers of a commercial bus were feared dead on Sunday, July 15, after the bus lost control and plunged into the Ovia River in Evbonogbon, Edo state.

In a viral video of the incident uploaded on social media, divers were making efforts to rescue victims while passersby could be heard sreaming after a diver brought out a baby from the bus.

It was gathered that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and operatives of the Edo state police command were later deployed to the scene.

The numbers of casualties and survivals are unknown as at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service on Saturday, July 14, killed two of his colleagues along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The two officers were said to have been crushed by their colleague who drove a Toyota Avalon with registration number YAB 366 JY.

The officers were at a checkpoint in a Toyota Camry with registration number YLA 121 BJ when the incident occurred.
