Breaking: Reps reject President Buhari’s executive order targeting corrupt politicians

The House of Representatives particularly members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have rejected President Muhammadu Buhari’s executive order.

By a voice vote, the order which is supposed to target corrupt politicians was rejected on Wednesday, July 11, Vanguard reports.

The order will see to the repatriation of properties acquired through corruption.

In a motion sponsored by 25 persons and moved by Hon. Nicholas Ossai (Delta State), the lawmakers said the order was against the tenets of the constitution.

In reaction, the All Progressives Congress lawmakers walked out in displeasure.

Legit.ng had reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, July 6, in Abuja, said it was considering a legal action against asset seizure executive order imposed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

PDP in a statement issued by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, described the order as illegal, unconstitutional, reprehensible and a dangerous step towards a descent to fascism, News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The party described the asset seizure executive order as total disregard to the provisions of 1999 constitution.
