Omisore is trying to hijack SDP - Osun chairman alleges

Senator Iyiola Omisore has been accused of trying to hijack the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The accusation was made by the chairman of the party’s Osun state chapter, Ademola Ishola, in a chat with newsmen on Monday, June 25, Channels TV reports.
Legit.ng gathers that Ishola faulted Omisore’s membership of the SDP; and disclosed that the party had not received the latter since he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He further stated that Omisore had not completed his registration process into the SDP, and insisted that his alleged move to hijack the party would be resisted. He pointed out that familiarisation and registration from the ward to the local government levels are required to become a member of the party.

According to Ishola, Omisore is jumping the gun by relating with officials at the party’s headquarters, instead of at the state level.
He said: “There are fundamental criteria of becoming a member in our party, including registration at the ward level, and being a financial member among others; none of it has been fulfilled by Omisore.
“Maybe he is trying to influence the process to his advantage. As far as we are concerned, he is just the party admirer, not a member.
“Our national leader, Olu Falae, has made it clear to all of us that the party should not be allowed to be hijacked by anybody. It is on this we stand.”
Omisore had quit the PDP to obtain the SDP’s nomination and expression of interest form. He told journalists that he would win the September 22 governorship election in Osun state if he emerges as the SDP candidate for the election.

This development however follows a previous report by Legit.ng, that the Osun state chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Ademola Ishola, on Thursday, May 24, in Osogbo declared that the SDP had welcomed Senator Iyiola Omisore to the party, saying that the latter is a bonafide member of the party.
Ishola said Omisore who is an erstwhile chairman, Senate Appropriation Committee, was also one of the governorship aspirants contending for the ticket of the SDP ahead of the September 22 gubernatorial poll in Osun state.
