171 Nigerian returnees arrive Lagos from Libya

One hundred and seventy Nigerians deported from Libya arrived Lagos on Tuesday, June 5. The deportees arrived aboard a chartered BURAQ Airline.

The flight with registration number 5A-DMG, landed at about 8.25pm with the 171 deportees, Vanguard reports.

Legit.ng notes that after being profiled, the returnees comprised of 70 female adults including 9 pregnant women, 90 male adults, 3 children and 8 infants.

Recall that one hundred and eleven Nigerian migrants still in Libya were expected to return home on Thursday, May 3.

This was disclosed by Ambassador Ketil Karlsen, the head of European Union (EU) delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS.

According to Karlsen, no less than 7,720 Nigerians had been repatriated from Libya.

He said: “It is vital for us that the return is done in an orderly manner where the returnees are giving opportunity to start life again."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that eight days after 149 Nigerians voluntarily returned from Libya, another batch of 258 on Tuesday, November 14 came back home from the North African country where they had been stranded en-route Europe.

The returnees were brought back aboard a Libyan Airlines aircraft with registration number 5A-LAU.

The Airbus 330-200 aircraft touched down at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 8.45pm.
