- The ex-Juventus ace has been also criticized for his lifestyle

France international Paul Pogba has blasted back at his critics ahead of the World Cup and told them “no one can tell me how to play”.

The 25-year-old has been slammed on numerous occasions this season from pundits and former players after a difficult campaign at Old Trafford.

He has also had several bust-ups with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, leading to him being dropped to the bench for several matches.

The former Juventus midfielder's misery continued when he was jeered off by his own supporters after he was substituted in France international friendly with Italy.

The United playmaker has launched a fierce defence of his performances in an interview with France Football.

He said: "I've always been like that. When I've won, I've won being like that. That's my style of play.

“You're not going to criticise Messi when he walks on the park.

"If he scores three goals are you going to say: 'Ah but he's walking on the pitch?' No. You can't tell me how to play.

“If I'm here today, it's as I am. No one has told me how I must behave. That's my football, that's all.

“People can like it or not. Do I need this to be loved? Do I need people to judge me differently? Or do they talk better about me?"

Since his £89m big money move back to Theater of Dreams in 2016, the ace has been criticised for his efforts on the pitch and for his social media accounts for his hair styles.

But the Frenchman insists the criticisms have no effect on him as long as he is enjoying what he is doing and he remains supported by those close to him.

The Arsenal and Manchester United attackers were snubbed for Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele, Chelsea's Olivier Giroud and Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann.
