Ekiti election: Buhari receives APC candidate Fayemi in Abuja
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, May 16, met with the Ekiti state governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and minister of mines and steel development, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
Legit.ng gathered that Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, who serves as the chairman of the primary election electoral committee raised by the national secretariat of the party was also present at the meeting.
Fayemi on Saturday, May 12, emerged winner of the APC primaries.

The former governor defeated other contestants in the poll with a total of 941 votes, out of the 2337 votes by the delegates, which put him a ahead of other aspirants.
Fayemi defeated 31 other aspirants including ex- governor, Segun Oni, who secured 481 votes, to clinch the party's ticket.

In a previous report by Legit.ng, one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Ekiti state, Opeyemi Bamidele, urged the people of the state to accept the apology rendered by the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, over perceived infractions while he was in office between 2010 and 2014.
The call was made after a meeting with his canvassers in a post-primary consultation at Iyin-Ekiti during which he urged all other aspirants to fully support Fayemi’s candidature, Vanguard reports.
All aspirants were asked to put aside their differences in the interest of the APC and the state. Bamidele said that he was very confident of Fayemi’s capacity to redress what he described as the failures of the PDP administration.
