Don't overlook Baraje's 7-day ultimatum, Timi Frank warns Buhari, APC

- A faction of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) recently wrote a letter of complaint to the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun

- The group consists of former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defected to the APC

- APC deputy national publicity secretary, Comrade Timi Frank, warns that the party and President Muhammadu Buhari should take the letter seriously

A chieftain of the APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has warned his party and President Muhammadu Buhari not to overlook a 7- day ultimatum given by the leader of defunct new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) in the ruling party.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng on Thursday, May 10, Comrade Frank, a member of the nPDP, said if the letter is not addressed, that will give impression that “we are no longer needed in the APC.”

Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje had on Wednesday, May 9 led a delegation on behalf of the nPDP bloc to protest what he described as 'maltreatment and exclusion' of his members in the scheme of things by the leaders of APC.

Comrade Frank said Baraje spoke the minds of their group, adding that it will be dangerous for President Buhari and the leadership of the APC to give a deaf ear to “our grievances.”

According to him, what the group is asking for is to be given fair hearing and equal stake in the change project as it is given to other groups.

Comrade Frank said: “Apart from being sidelined, our people are also the most harassed within the party; from the Senate President Bukola Saraki, Sen. Dino Melaye, myself and many others. These and other reasons call for a round table renegotiation.

“Since APC came into power in 2015, there have been deliberate efforts by the government at center and the national leadership of the party to sideline members of the New PDP, when compared to other blocks of CPC, ACN and ANPP which made up of APC.”

While emphasising on the need to honour the seven-day ultimatum given by Baraje, Frank also said since APC came into power only the minister of transport, Rotimi Ameachi, and minister of women affairs, Mama Taraba, were given appointment among the nPDP members despite their unquantifiable contributions to bring APC to power.

“If President Buhari will be fair to all groups and blocks of APC, we expect him to urgently order for an emergency meeting where the grievances will be resolved, that is, if he still care about the interest of the oppressed.

“The meeting we are calling for at this point is important, as it will enable us to renegotiate our interest within the APC and whether we can continue to bear the maltreatment or not,” Frank stated.

Meanwhile, Comrade Frank earlier mocked APC chieftains who have expressed dissatisfaction at the outcome of ward congresses of the party nationwide and the botched governorship primary in Ekiti, asking them to accept the result of their silence in the face of impunity.

According to him, they are paying the price for keeping quiet when the party leadership was displaying impunity.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng on Tuesday, May 8, the Bayelsa-born politician expressed regret that ward congresses could record 80 percent crisis across the country.
