Manchester United in secret meeting with Jorginho's agents over a possible summer move

Manchester United have sent their representatives to meet Jorginho's agents ahead of a summer move to Old Trafford this summer

Arsenal and Liverpool are also strong contenders for the signature of the Brazil-born Italian national team player

The 26-year-old has two more seasons on his current contract with the Serie A side

Manchester United have reportedly intensified their efforts to sign Liverpool and Arsenal target, Jorginho this summer.

The Red Devils are looking to fire some players who have been unproductive at the end of the ongoing league season to give room for other players to come in.

Meanwhile, the Old Trafford side are said to have sent their representatives to have a secret meeting with the player’s agent Joao Santos after Italy's 2-0 loss to Argentina in Manchester according to Rai Sport.

Having crashed out of the UEFA Champions League at the knockout stage of the competition in March, United have just one title to contend for this season.

And they are in the semifinals of the competition already after beating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 in the FA Cup quarterfinal stage at Old Trafford just before the FIFA international break.

However, they will have to cross the Tottenham Hotspur’s hurdle at the Wembley Stadium in April to stand a chance of wrapping their season up with silverware.

Jose Mourinho is hoping to upgrade his current squad, who have trailed their city rivals, Manchester City all season long with quality signing next season, but will have to deal with Paul Pogba’s poor form since he returned to the club in 2016.

He is also set to lose Michael Carrick when the season wraps up in May, as the 36-year-old will be retiring in the summer, while Marouane Fellaini is set to leave and Ander Herrera's form has dipped due to injury.

The only positive the Portuguese manager must take away from this season must be the discovery of Scott McTominay, who has excelled against Chelsea and Liverpool despite a lack of experience.

Nonetheless, the Premier League campaigners must cough out the sum of £50 million for the 26-year-old if they must secure his signature ahead of their rivals this summer.

Jorginho may not be a scoring midfielder, due to his three-goal run in 30 games, one thing he guarantees is that he controls possession in a way that United lack, as was seen during their Champions League exit to Sevilla.

The Brazil born player is also on the radar of Barcelona and Real Madrid but they are unlikely to break the bank for his signature.

It is United's Premier League rivals that will challenge the Manchester giants the most, with Liverpool and Arsenal desperate to bring in the Brazilian born Italian.

Arsenal have long needed a powerful central midfielder, however the Premier leagues second placed club have far greater spending power and the lure of almost guaranteed Champions League football.

Jurgen Klopp had hoped to use Jorginho as a replacement for the out of contract Emre Can, but with Naby Keita arriving in the summer, a midfielder may not be their top priority.
