Senator Godswill Akpabio, has challenged the new Senate leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan, over his assertion that he will run a fair Senate.

Senator Akpabio who is the Senate minority leader on Thursday, January 13, challenged Lawan for saying he will he will run the affairs of the Senate for the benefit of all.
Lawan made the statement while appreciating his colleagues in the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the floor for selecting him as Senate leader.
When Lawan mentioned that he will run the Senate, Senator Akpabio immediately countered, saying Lawan was elected to lead the APC, adding that Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki, was in charge of the Senate.

“I want to say that Senator Lawan is the Majority Leader and he cannot run the Senate. The Senate president is in charge and he will run the affairs of this house,” Akpabio said.
Earlier in his speech to his speech, Lawan solicited for the support of his colleagues, promising not to let them down.
He also called on his colleagues to cooperate with him, to ensure the delivery of dividends of democracy to all.
