Dallas shooting worries top Americans

He added:
“I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families."
Former congresswoman Gabby Giffords tweeted:
"My heart breaks for the victims of this morning’s shooting at a Dallas ICE facility. On top of enduring this administration’s cruel and inhumane immigration policy, these families have now seen loved ones killed or injured in a violent and awful way.
"While we await more information, it’s clear our country is in the middle of a gun crime crisis—and I urge our leaders to take action immediately."
Cory Booker, a democratic senator from New Jersey, said on his verified X:
"The shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas is an unacceptable act of violence. My heart is with the victims and their loved ones.
"While we don’t know all of the details yet, what we can, and all should, agree on is that the vilification of any group of people endangers them. It makes them targets. And it must stop.
"We are at an inflection point in our history where we must put in the work to break down our divisions and see our shared humanity. We cannot choose the path of hatred and division."
American disturbing gun violence
On one hand, the United States is safer from violent crime than at any point in the last 50 years. On the other, America is more vulnerable to spectacular, devastating acts of mass violence than any of its peers, and the ominous threat of politically-motivated violence is highly disturbing.
Recently, a student opened fire at his Colorado high school, wounding two classmates and then turning the gun on himself.
Three students were taken to the hospital in critical condition following the gunfire, including the suspected shooter, who was injured by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The sheriff's office confirmed the suspect died in a post on social media.
