Adesua Etomi-Wellington

Tolulope Adesua Etomi-Wellington was born on February 22, 1988, in Owerri, Imo state, Nigeria. She is the youngest of three siblings. Her father, of Esan descent from Edo State, served as a soldier, while her mother, Eniiwaju Etomi, is a pastor and civil engineer from the Yoruba tribe. Etomi attended Corona School in Victoria Island, Lagos, and later Queen's College. She furthered her education in the United Kingdom, attending City College Coventry and graduating with first-class honours in Drama and Performance from the University of Wolverhampton.

Career

Etomi's acting career took off with her debut in "Knocking On Heaven’s Door" (2014). She gained widespread recognition for her role in "The Wedding Party" (2016), which became a box office hit. Her performance in "Falling" (2015) earned her the Best Actress award at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. Etomi showcased her versatility in the action film "Muna" (2019), where she played the lead role.

Personal life

In February 2017, Etomi got engaged to Nigerian singer and actor Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W. The couple had their traditional marriage on November 19, a court wedding on November 20, and a white wedding on November 25, 2017, in Cape Town, South Africa. They welcomed their first child, a son named Hazaiah Wellington, in early 2021. In 2024, they announced the birth of their second child.

Awards and recognition

Etomi's talent has been recognised with several awards, including the Best Actress award at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for her role in "Falling." She is also listed among the few Nigerian celebrities who graduated with first-class honours from university.
