AC Milan’s hopes of securing Victor Boniface have collapsed after the Nigerian striker failed to pass his medical after three attempts on Sunday afternoon, August 24.
Before the striker’s arrival, an Italian newspaper raised concerns about his injury status.
The 24-year-old underwent a series of tests at the La Madonnina clinic and Galeazzi Hospital over a 48-hour period in Milan.

However, AC Milan’s medical team raised red flags regarding the Nigerian striker’s fitness, particularly related to his right knee, per Punch.
The Super Eagles star has a history of serious injuries, including two cruciate ligament tears during his time at Bodø/Glimt in 2019 and recurring muscle problems.
AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen had agreed on a loan deal with a €30 million purchase option, but the Rossoneri opted not to take the risk after receiving his updated medical reports, per Goal.
Boniface has returned to the Bundesliga club, where he is a third-choice striker under new manager Erik ten Hag.
Leave Victor Boniface alone - Anyikude
Popular sports content creator Dr. Kelechi Anyikude has defended Victor Boniface following his failed move to AC Milan.
In a post on X, the staunch Arsenal fan said Nigerians ought to protect the forward instead of the negative criticism. He said:
"I have to drop my two cents on this Boniface situation. I think some Nigerians don't have a thinking faculty; they don't understand how things work. You must not comment on anything; sometimes, learn to sit out situations.
"He had an injury, he had two ACL that we are not ready to compromise on it and the transfer to AC Milan was off; it has nothing to do about being on social media."

Boniface still delivering - Anyikude
Dr. Kelechi Anyikude said Victor Boniface's social media life has not affected his performance in any way.
He explained that the Nigerian international was very active online while he won a domestic double and won several awards in the Bundesliga two seasons ago. He said:
"Keep every advice to yourself and let the young man (Boniface) do well, we are rooting for him, more clubs will come and the boy will ball. He was on social media and was winning Rookie of the Year every time, and helped Leverkusen win a domestic double.
"So because a transfer did not go through all of a sudden, people are saying he should reduce his engagement. All these talks coming from; let me not label anyone.
"You have age and time on your side, injuries are part of the game. You do not know when injuries are coming. AC Milan were not ready to go on with the deal that's fine we go back to the Budesliga and play."
