Sudan beat Nigeria 4-0 in their second match at the ongoing 2024 Africa Nations Championship played at Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium on Tuesday night, August 12.

Al-Hilal SC midfielder Abdel Raouf scored a brace to send Nigeria to the bottom of Group D.

Nigeria conceded an own goal in the 25th minute after Leonard Ngenge misjudged a header into his net. The defender miscalculated during their first match against Senegal.

In the 44th minute, Walieldin Khedr increased the goal tally for the Falcons through a penalty kick, after an infringement by a Nigerian defender in the box.

Ten minutes into the second half, Abdel Raouf capitalised on the lapses of the defenders to slot in the third goal for the Sudanese senior national team.

In the 62nd minute, Raouf scored his brace to take the game beyond the reach of the Super Eagles.

Nigeria is currently bottom of the table with zero points from two matches and have crashed out of the tournament.

The Super Eagles Team B is the only team at the ongoing Africa Nations Championship to concede five goals without scoring a goal, per CAF.

Nigeria fans express frustration

Super Eagles fans are currently unhappy with the performance of the team at the ongoing 2024 Africa Cup of Nations Championship.

A X user said Eric Chelle does not have the tactical knowledge to manage the home-based players and should be excused from the team, while another fan demanded the immediate resignation of the former Mali manager.

Eric Chelle reacts to Nigeria's loss

Legit.ng earlier reported that head coach Eric Chelle looked visibly distraught during his post-match conference and admitted that Senegal deserved the victory.

Chelle criticised his team's performance, claiming they played as if they were scared of something and needed to play football in subsequent games.
