Luis Suarez is still going strong at 36 and pulled a hat-trick out of his hat in the second half of Gremio's 4-3 win over title rivals Botafogo to add further drama to the race.

Suarez left Europe in December 2022 after helping Atletico Madrid win the La Liga title. He spent a year at his former club, Nacional, before joining Gremio in the Brazilian league.

At 36, he is showing no signs of slowing down, leaving fans to question why he left Europe despite his age and ability to score goals relatively better than most strikers in European leagues.

He has scored 14 goals, provided ten assists in 28 Brasileiro Serie A games this season, and helped the club join the top of the league with five games left.

Suarez scores a hat-trick for Gremio

The former Barcelona striker starred for the Brazilian club against Botafogo, the club of former Chelsea striker Diego Costa. His team was down 3-1 at half-time.

Per CBS Sports Golazo, the Uruguayan took matters into his hands in the second half, scoring all three goals to help the team win 4-3 and move level on points with their opponents at the top.

The former Liverpool striker took to his Instagram page to celebrate his first hat-trick for the club and urged the team to keep going until the end.

Per ESPN, the Uruguayan forward has agreed to join Inter Miami and reunite with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba despite having a contract with Gremio till 2024.

Suarez challenges Messi for 9th Ballon d'Or

Former teammate and friend Luis Suarez challenged Messi to win his 9th Ballon d'Or and not stop at eight.

Suarez commented on Messi's post on Instagram celebrating his achievements and cheekily asked him to go for more because he deserves it.
