England legend and former Manchester United star Bobby Charlton has reportedly being diagnosed with dementia and he is currently in an hospital undergoing treatment.

Bobby Charlton was among the English players who won the 1966 World Cup beating West Germany in the final then.

According to the latest report by UK Sun, the development about Bobby Charlton was revealed by his Norma who made it clear that her husband is in battle for survival.

The report added that Bobby's elder Jack also battled against dementia before he died.

Charlton played every minute of England's stunning World Cup triumph of 1966 with brother Jack also an integral member of the squad.

He went on the win the much-revered Ballon d'Or later that year and is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time.

The 83-year-old also helped Manchester United to win their first European Cup in 1968 as he played 758 games for the Red Devils scoring 249 goals.
