According to the Manchester United website, a small number of Manchester United fans are set to be in attendance at the Gdansk Stadium as per the COVID-19 regulations.

European cup finals are nothing strange to Wayne Rooney, who has played in four of them as a Manchester United player.

Perhaps, his most memorable one will be in 2008, when Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties to lift the Champions League.

He also endured disappointing back to back defeats in the final to a frightening Pep Guardiola’s side in 2009 and 2011.

In the 2011 spectacle, the former England forward scored a spectacular goal to restore parity but Barcelona were too strong for their opponents on the day.

Another subplot of Rooney’s trip to Poland is he will be watching his former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer try to win his first piece of silverware with the club.

Solskjaer has come close on several occasions to winning a trophy since his appointment in 2018 but has fallen short either in the semi-finals or finals.

The last time United won the Europa League was in 2017 in a comfortable 2-0 win over Ajax.

Rooney played an integral part of the game under the then manager Jose Mourinho, although he fell down the pecking order and eventually decided to move to Everton.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly conceded that either Dean Henderson or David de Gea could leave Man United if left out of the Europa League final squad.

De Gea and Henderson have switched roles for the better part of the 2020/21 campaign, with both players jostling for the lucrative No.1 spot.

The Spaniard started the campaign as the first-choice goalkeeper before Henderson ousted him in March when the former flew to Spain for the birth of his first child.

The 30-year-old shot-stopper is currently United's highest earner and his thought to be keen to stay beyond this season.

Be that as it may, it has been reported Solskjaer has concerns over his lack of motivation and lack of ability to command his box, two key areas Henderson beats him in.
