Everton failed to complete a league double over Tottenham as both sides settled for a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park in an early Premier League weekend kick off.

Harry Kane and Gylfi Sigurdsson both scored a brace in the entertaining game as both sides shared the spoils.

Hugo Lloris was called into action in the opening exchanges as he saved a shot from Toffees Brazilian striker Richarlison.

But it was Kane who first got the ball into the back of the net as he volleyed home a shot inside the 18-yard area to make it 1-0 in the 27th minute as a defensive mix up.

Everton were awarded a penalty after Sergio Reguilon fouled James Rodrigues and Sigurdsson made no mistake to level matters in the 31st minute.

Carlo Ancelotti's men turned on the heat as they went into the lead just after the hour mark as Sigurdsson finished off a superb cross from Seamus Coleman to make it 2-1.

Kane benefitted from another defensive blunder as he brought Spurs back into the game with his 21st Premier league goal of the season.

The England captain was taken off in the match after complaining of an ankle problem which has been a recurring one for him this season.

Honours even as Tottenham remained seventh on the table while Everton who are winless in their last five games are in eighth.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Jose Mourinho has issued a less dramatic response to Paul Pogba's recent criticism of his man-management skills during his time at Man United.

Recall that Pogba explained that he is happy working under Ole Solskjaer claiming that the Norwegian will never look down on his players like Mourinho.

But in a swift response after Tottenham's 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison park, Mourinho said he "couldn't care less" what Pogba thinks about him.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Mourinho said: "I would like to say that I couldn't care less with what he says. I couldn't care less. Not interested at all."
