- Man United have been at the tail end of some boring 0-0 draws against the perceived Big Six sides this season
- Despite being second on the log, United have only scored once against big-six oppositions
- This places the Red Devils' last on the Premier League table consisting of the top sides only
Manchester United might be sitting pretty in second place on the Premier League log but their record against the traditional ‘Big Six’ sides has left them vulnerable to mass criticism.
After yet another dull 0-0 stalemate against big six opponents Chelsea, United sit bottom of the table consisting of the big sides only.
Solskjaer can still brag about his unbeaten record against Chelsea since he took charge of United in 2018, but the fact that he has mustered up so many 0-0 stalemates against Big Six sides will be a point of concern for his team.
As far as the Chelsea clash, there were not many things to write home about except some VAR controversy when United felt they should have been awarded a penalty.
The drab 0-0 stalemate left Manchester United 12 points adrift from leaders Manchester City, who are on a 20-game winning streak.
One of the biggest regrets for Solskjaer will be the fact that his team have dropped an unacceptable number of points through stalemates this season as they have drawn a total of eight times.
It has been the story of the day for most of the big clashes this season which has been marred by too many tactics, eventually leading to both sides cancelling themselves out.
Below are some of the so-called ‘Big games’ this season that have ended in a tactical stalemate:
Heartbreak for Arsenal fans as supercomputer predicts they will record worst Premier League finish in 26 years
Man United 0-0 Chelsea
Arsenal 0-0 Man United
Liverpool 0-0 Man United
Man United 0-0 Man City
Chelsea 0-0 Spurs
Chelsea 0-0 Man United
From the list, it is evident United are behind the majority of these drab results, and this has had horrible implications on their place in the ‘Big Six table’.
The Red Devils have scored only one goal against the Big Six this season, and this has come from the penalty spot in the 6-1 mauling from Tottenham earlier in the season.
Here is a look at the Big Six table and how the top six clubs in England have faired against each other:
Man City 17 points
Liverpool 14 points
Tottenham 10 points
Arsenal 7 points
Chelsea 6 points
Manchester United 5 points
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Thomas Tuchel and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were spotted in the technical area at Stamford Bridge in a heated exchange, Daily Mail.
The Chelsea boss was not happy with Man United stars surrounding referee Stuart Attwell for not awarding a penalty to them.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Greenwood were tussling for the ball inside the penalty area and it seemed the ball touched the Chelsea star's hand before ut hit United's striker.
