Tanko Beji, the former Niger State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending speculation about his next political move after he stepped back from active politics last year.
The Niger State APC confirmed the development through its Publicity Secretary, Musa Labaran, who issued an official statement welcoming Beji into the party. Beji's long career in PDP
Channels TV reported that Beji served two terms as PDP State Chairman in Niger State, a tenure that capped a lengthy career within the party. Before his time as chairman, he held several other senior positions, including Legal Adviser, Secretary, and Zonal Chairman.
He also served as Director-General of a gubernatorial campaign and as Acting National Youth Leader at the national level. His departure from active politics came last year following the party's state congress.
APC hails defection as major gain
The Niger State APC said it viewed Beji's arrival as a significant boost, pointing to the depth of political and administrative experience he brings to the fold. The party said his background would contribute both to its internal growth and to broader development efforts in Niger State.
No further details were provided in the statement on any role Beji might take up within the APC structure going forward.
Former APC senator joins PDP
Legit.ng earlier reported that Senator Saliu Mustapha picked the PDP senatorial nomination form on Friday, hours after announcing his resignation from the APC.
Mustapha's move sets up a direct 2027 electoral clash with Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who holds the APC ticket for the same district.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki and opposition stakeholders were reportedly involved in courting the senator to the PDP.
