2027 Election: “Why North Will Vote Tinubu,” Nigerian Governor Speaks

Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger state has revealed that the North will vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election because the president has lived up to expectations by implementing his campaign promises.

Tinubu has fulfilled campaign promises - Bago

Bago made this assertion when he appeared as a guest on the state of the nation on Television Continental (TVC) on Sunday, September 14.

The governor also disclosed that that he is ready to be the campaign manager for President Tinubu because he has done a lot for the North and the country.

“As far as we are concerned, it is Asiwaju for 2027; there is no going back,” said Bago, who also emphasised the primacy of rotation.

Tinubu's re-election: Nigerians will be shocked in 2027

Recall that former Kaduna state governor Nasir el-Rufai, in an interview, claimed that President Tinubu would finish third in the 2027 elections and predicted that Tinubu would not make it to the runoff.

According to El-Rufai, who was once a prominent campaigner for Tinubu, the president’s current political trajectory lacked a viable path to victory.

Reacting on Sunday, Governor Bago said Nigerians would be shocked by the way the North would vote massively for President Tinubu.

The governor, who is a stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), said the mobilisation is being intensified in the north.

He said:

“I have made myself the director-general of the campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, and the headquarters of the campaign is here (Niger State). There is no going back about that.”

Wait till 2031, Bago urges northerner elites

Speaking further, Governor Bago said it is proper for the South to retain power till 2031 in the spirit of zoning, equity and fairness.

BAs reported by The Nation, Bago urged northerners, who aspire to rule the country, to wait till 2031 to realise their ambition.

He added:

“When he (President) finishes his eight years, power will come to the North and northerners, who want to contest, can then contest.”

Gbajabiamila: North should support Tinubu’s 2027 re-election

Similarly, Legit.ng reported that Tinubu's Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila made a major move to gather support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid.

Ahead of 2027, Gbajabiamila met with political leaders in northern Nigeria, particularly ex-legislators, and explained why Tinubu should be voted into power for a second term in office.

Legit.ng reported that Gbajabiamila made this move after Reno Omokri urged northern elites to support Tinubu's second-term agenda and issued a warning.
