Anambra Election: Situation Room, INEC, Police Release List of Security Emergency Numbers to Call

Few hours to the governorship election in Anambra, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the contacts of security authorities in the state.

Channels TV stated that it obtained from the electoral umpire on Friday, November 5, a document containing the phone numbers comprise those of the personnel of the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The Nigeria police also released on their Facebook page the emergency numbers to contact during the Anambra poll.

On its part, the coalition of civil society organisations, Situation Room, which monitors elections in Nigeria, has released lines to call as observation of the poll continues.

The group said it will offer Anambra residents the opportunity to get real-time responses to enquiries, incident-reports, complaints and queries about the election.

Anambra: INEC releases key details to avoid compromise of its database

Meanwhile, INEC has released some key details concerning the forthcoming governorship election.

The details contained in a document and seen by a Legit.ng reporter in Awka, ranges from data about polling units in different areas of the state and the candidates contesting for election.

According to INEC, in Anambra north senatorial district, there will be 1,820 polling units to cater for 846,994 registered voters. In Anambra central senatorial district, there will be 3,987 polling units to cater for 887,295 registered voters.

Empty streets as Anambra residents begin sit-at-home despite IPOB's cancellation

Still on the Anambra poll, most streets in the state are currently empty as residents have stayed indoors due to the one-week sit-at-home order.

Although the Indigenous People of Biafra cancelled the order on Thursday evening, November 4, residents have stayed indoors due to fear of being attacked or harassed for stepping out.

Former Head of State makes powerful prediction ahead of Anambra election

In another development, former head of state and chairman National Peace Committee, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has predicted that the November 6 Anambra state governorship election will be peaceful.

Abubakar made this known on Thursday, November 4, after candidates participating in the gubernatorial race signed a Peace Accord.

The former head of state, who was in company with the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Bishop Matthew Kukah, called on the residents to maintain peace to ensure success in the November 6 governorship election.
