Anambra Governorship Election: PDP’s Rescue Mission Will Start From Southeast State, Says Okowa

Awka - Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on the people of Anambra to close ranks and take back the state in line with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) "rescue mission" for the country.

Okowa, who is deputy chairman of the PDP national campaign council for Anambra governorship election, gave the charge on Tuesday, November 2 at the party's grand rally at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, attended by a Legit.ng reporter ahead of the poll on Saturday, November 6.

He said that the gubernatorial poll was special for the youths of Anambra and urged them to come out in their numbers to vote for PDP candidate, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo.

He called on party leaders and stakeholders to forgive one another and stay united to win the election.

His words:

“You are all aware that the National Convention of the PDP took place on Saturday in Abuja, and with it, the PDP has sent a clear message across the country that we are ready to take back our nation.
“As PDP is planning to take back the nation and we shall surely do that, Anambra people - the men, the women, the youths - must first take back Anambra state.
“Therefore, you must be the front runners because when you take back Anambra state you have given us the momentum to take back the nation.

“It's time for us to believe in ourselves; it's a time for us to rebuild Anambra and rebuilding Anambra means that we must bring in PDP back to the governance of Anambra, and doing so, you have done yourself a lot of good.”

The governor told the people that God had already given them the opportunity to change the situation in Anambra through PDP and appealed to them not to throw it away.

Writing on his Facebook page after attending the rally, Governor Okowa said:

“Earlier today, I was in Anambra state for our party’s grand rally ahead of Saturday’s election.
“At the rally, I called on our party members in the state to unite behind our candidate in the election.”

Okowa says successful PDP convention is the start of a political revolution

Governor Okowa had earlier declared that the successful conduct of the just concluded PDP national convention was a pointer to the party's readiness to rescue Nigeria from the current hopelessness that pervades the country.

Okowa stated this while speaking on Channels Television’s "Politics Today" on Monday, November 1 monitored by Legit.ng.

He said that Nigerians were tired of the rising insecurity and economic crisis ravaging the country, adding PDP had through the success of the convention, sent the right message to Nigerians that it was properly positioned to change the ugly narrative and gloom in the country.

Governor Okowa confident of PDP's resurgence ahead of 2023

Recall that Governor Okowa had on Friday, October 29, said the outcome of the convention would prove that the PDP was ready to rescue Nigeria from prevailing challenges.

He made this known in his remarks at a meeting of one of the convention committees held at the party's national secretariat in Abuja.

He said that PDP was ready to take over leadership at the centre in 2023, adding that the convention had strengthened the unity in the party.
