Shoemaker stakes N3.5 million for colleague to outdo him

The stakes were high, with the shoemaker proposing a live event witnessed by 50 people, including fellow craftsmen and a professional critic.

He noted that the competition would be televised, and the winner would take home the prize of N3.5 million.

The shoemaker gave Mr Nelson 24 hours to respond, warning that failure to take up the challenge would mean he could no longer claim to be Nigeria's best shoemaker.

In his words:

"48 hours ago, I challenged your best shoemaker, Mr Nelson, who claimed that he is the best shoemaker in Nigeria. Nobody draws, nobody thinks better than he does. I said 1 million naira, Mr Nelson, come and do what you know how to do best, but up until now, no response from you. Some of your fans argue that 1 million naira is too small, so let's fire things up. 3.5 million naira, Mr Nelson, just me and you.
"We'll get a hall with the capacity of at least 50 people, 50 shoemakers to witness the event, to be covered live on TV, with a professional shoe critic there to predict the shoes. And whoever wins goes home with 3.5 million naira, Mr Nelson. This is just a game. After 24 hours, if there is no response from you, then you do not have any rights or so ever moving forward to say you are the best shoemaker in Nigeria, because Nigeria is full of so many creative shoemakers who make really good shoes."
