In a video posted on TikTok, the woman, @thatcubbyedochick01, said textbooks are supposed to be shared by siblings.

According to her, in the olden days, younger siblings used the same textbooks their older relatives used.

However, she said this is no longer possible because private schools introduced textbooks that have workbooks in them.

She lamented that students are forced to do their homework and schoolwork in textbooks, making it impossible for another person to use them.

The woman said private schools should go back to the days when students used their notebooks to write while textbooks were for reading only, not for writing.

She said this way, younger siblings can use the books left behind by their older ones, saving parents the cost of paying for the same types of textbooks each year.

She said:

"Please, our Nigerian private schools, take us back to the era where our children do not need to use textbooks that they have to write inside.
"Explain to me how it makes sense that I will buy a text book for my daughter this session and the next session, her brother is going into the same class and he cannot repeat that textbook and I need to buy that textbook all over again."

"You people gave private schools the edge to extortion. Send the kids to government schools. The government schools is better than private. Fix your kids in government schools and give them lesson teachers. The teachers of private schools are commonly SSCE holders."

“Take your kids to public school” are we not in Nigeria? Are we not seeing the state of the educational system here? If someone can afford private schools, does that automatically mean they should be exploited? No. Choosing better for your children doesn’t mean you should be taken advantage of. Some of you are just saying this because you attended public schools and you feel everyone should. Some that attended public schools want better for their kids. Peace!"
