Africa’s biggest Web3 and blockchain festival, Blockfest Africa 2025, has officially set a new record as over 12,000 participants from 50+ countries gathered for what many now call “the Super Bowl of Web3.” What began as a vision to unite Africa’s blockchain builders has evolved into a continental movement redefining innovation, culture, and collaboration across the global Web3 ecosystem.
Held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, the festival transformed Landmark Centre, Lagos, into the heartbeat of Africa’s digital future. Its theme, “BUIDL, BRIDGE, and BECOME,” captured the mission of African creators driving the next wave of blockchain growth and economic inclusion.
Setting the Footprint for African Builders
The one day event featured thought leaders, founders, and regulators who explored the intersection of technology, policy, and entrepreneurship in shaping Africa’s digital future.
At the forefront was Samuel Olaoyenikan, popularly known as XeusTheGreat, the Convener and Founder of Nirvana Academy. A respected Web3 educator and investor, Olaoyenikan has spent years building platforms that mentor and connect young Africans to blockchain opportunities.
Delivering the opening keynote titled “The Web3 Playbook for Africans,” he unpacked this year’s theme “Web3 in Motion: From Pipelines to Platforms” and hinted that Blockfest could become an annual fixture on the global tech calendar.
He emphasised collaboration as the key to global relevance, stating: “Everybody is collaborating in order to make sure the next billion dollar product comes out of their ecosystem.”
Olaoyenikan called for a new model of blockchain education, one that focuses on creation, ownership, and excellence, not just participation.
He urged builders to pursue innovation with a standard of excellence, noting: “Excellence begets excellence. You cannot build global platforms in isolation. It’s time to stop being on pipelines; it’s time to start being on global platforms.”
He further challenged Africa’s Web3 community to control its own narrative, adding: “Perception must equate reality. The media should celebrate and show that Nigerians and African youths are changing global narratives.”
Building, Scaling, and Starting Small

Following his keynote, Jeremiah Mayowa, CEO of Jeroid, shared lessons from building one of Africa’s leading crypto trading and gift card platforms, now processing an average of $20 million in monthly transactions for over 300,000 users.
He encouraged participants to focus on starting early, solving problems, and sharing ideas, saying: “You don’t have to start big to be great. Every step counts. Share your ideas, connect with others, and focus on solving real problems, the money will come.”
He also urged veterans in the space to mentor the next generation, adding: “You’re not late. You’re here at the perfect time.”
