Kwara: PDP Youth Leader Blasts APC Gov’t Over ‘Wicked’ Demolitions
- Kwara PDP youth leader Mallam Olaitan Obalowu accuses the APC-led government of demolishing homes and businesses without compensation
- Obalowu claims Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s development projects inflict “brutal hardship” and lack empathy for displaced residents
- He warns that unfair demolitions could deepen poverty and insecurity while fuelling political tension ahead of the 2027 elections
The Chairman of the Kwara Central Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Advisory Council, Mallam Olaitan Obalowu, has strongly criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government in Kwara State, accusing it of being “wicked” and insensitive to the plight of ordinary citizens.
Obalowu made the statement during a live interview on Diamond FM in Ilorin, which was monitored by a Legit.ng correspondent.

Kwara governor accused of anti-masses acts
According to him, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration has embarked on various urban development projects that are not only displacing residents but also destroying homes and businesses without adequate consideration or compensation.
Speaking passionately, Obalowu said:
“The truth is that there is no government that will want to engage in urban development that will not affect residents one way or the other. But the government is expected to be empathetic about people’s feelings. During PDP’s time, when we carried out road projects, some properties were also destroyed, but we ensured the owners were compensated.”
He argued that the current APC government lacks compassion in handling issues related to demolition and displacement, which, according to him, has inflicted needless suffering on residents.
“What is lacking in this present government that is causing hardship to the people is empathy. People are beginning to feel that the so-called development under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is turning into brutal hardship. Someone whose house is demolished, are you expecting him to sleep outside? Someone whose business is destroyed, do you want him to engage in stealing? Any government that forcefully takes people’s houses and destroys their livelihood without compensation is a wicked one. So, the present APC government in Kwara is a wicked government.”
The PDP youth leader insisted that development should not be at the expense of the citizens’ survival.
He stressed that without proper compensation, the government is only worsening poverty and insecurity in the state.
PDP leader recounts similar past action
Obalowu further recalled how, under previous PDP administrations in Kwara, similar projects were executed but handled with fairness.

He maintained that fairness and empathy should always be at the center of government policy, particularly when people’s means of livelihood are involved.
His remarks are likely to deepen the ongoing political rivalry between the ruling APC and the opposition PDP in Kwara state, especially as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
