FCT, Abuja - Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, has commended celebrity chef Hilda Baci for her ongoing attempt to set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Idris, who described the effort as “another demonstration of Nigeria’s global excellence,” gave the commendation through Olalekan Fadolapo, the director-general (DG) of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), at the event venue, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, on Friday, September 12.

Baci cooks biggest jollof pot
Legit.ng reports that Baci, who shot to prominence in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon, cooked 250 bags of rice in a single giant pot.
Ahead of the latest attempt, Hilda and her mother were seen praying together, asking for strength, protection, and endurance. The heartfelt moment moved people following the cooking attempt.
The event, which was initially slated for Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, was relocated to Eko Hotels in the same vicinity, to accommodate overwhelming interest, with more than 20,000 people registering to attend.
The Punch and Leadership quoted Idris as saying:
“The federal government lauds Hilda Baci’s extraordinary effort in putting Nigeria once again on the global map.
"Her dedication to excellence and her unrelenting pursuit of greatness exemplify the Nigerian spirit that the world has come to appreciate."
Idris added:
“We recognise and celebrate Nigerians like Hilda Baci who serve as ambassadors of our nation’s capabilities, talents, culture, and food."

Baci sets world record
Meanwhile, the atmosphere was electrifying at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, as Baci thrilled thousands of fans with another groundbreaking culinary feat.
This time, she set a brand-new Guinness World Record for cooking the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice, a first-of-its-kind attempt that pulled a massive crowd of over 20,000 food lovers, celebrities, and influencers.
Notable personalities such as Veekee James, Funke Akindele, Tomike Adeoye, and Enioluwa joined the celebration, cheering her on.
All eyes are now on GWR as the organisation reviews Baci's documentation and disclose if her record attempt was successful.
Pastor prays for Hilda Baci
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Bolaji Idowu, the lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, was at the Eko Hotel and Suites to lend spiritual support to Baci as she attempts to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
