ADC distances self from El-Rufai

In a statement signed by the ADC State Publicity Secretary, Engr. Musa Idris, the party dismissed the event titled “Official Inauguration Ceremony of the Kaduna State APC, PDP, SDP, LP, NNPP to ADC Transition Committee.”

The statement insisted that the gathering was not sanctioned by the party and accused El-Rufai of attempting to destabilize its structure.

“The ADC in Kaduna State has no knowledge of and is not part of this so-called inauguration,” the statement read.
“Neither the State Executive Committee nor stakeholders across the 23 local government areas were consulted. This is another clear manifestation of the divisive and destabilizing activities of Malam Nasir El-Rufai and his allies.”

Party officials stressed that El-Rufai was not a registered member of the ADC and therefore lacked the authority to organize activities under its name.

Elder Patrick Ambut, the state chairman, said the former governor had assured the party that he would regularize his membership after recent bye-elections but failed to follow through.

“Instead of fulfilling his promise, he has continued to parade himself as our leader while creating positions that have no basis in the ADC Constitution. This is fraudulent and unacceptable,” Ambut said.

ADC brandish event illegitimate

The party leadership maintained that the so-called inauguration was illegitimate and urged members, partners, and the public to disregard it.

It also affirmed that the state chapter remained firmly under its recognized executives as preparations ahead of the 2027 elections continue.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command confirmed it had opened an investigation into the incident.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, said preliminary findings revealed that the meeting sparked clashes during which political thugs reportedly fired gunshots.

“The Command has commenced an extensive investigation into the alleged political violence meeting hosted by former governor Nasir El-Rufai,” Hassan stated.

He explained that the gathering was held without security clearance despite repeated warnings and noted that hotels and event centres hosting such unauthorized political activities would be held liable.

“Anyone found culpable, no matter how highly placed, will face the full weight of the law,” the police spokesperson warned.
