Tinubu secured major deals in Brazil
Legit.ng previously reported that President Bola Tinubu's visit to Brazil has secured major memoranda of understanding between Nigeria and the South American country. This would be the third time Tinubu will be meeting his Brazilian counterpart, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Since becoming President in 2023, Tinubu has first met with President Lula in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, during the African Union summit. The two leaders discussed cultural relations, trade enhancement and commercial activities.
Their second meeting was in July 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, where they extended their discussion on trade expansion, energy transition, agriculture and direct flight. The discussion was held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.
Tinubu gets military honour in Brazil
Legit.ng also reported that Brazil, on Monday, August 25, accorded Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, full military honours at the Planalto Palace in Brasília. The elaborate ceremony featured Brazil’s military contingent as part of the official welcome.
Tinubu’s arrival was hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, marking the start of a high-level engagement between the two countries. Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the ceremony in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Photos and a viral video of the ceremony quickly circulated online, drawing attention to the grandeur of the Brazilian military parade and the warm handshake between the two leaders.
