El-Rufai Rejects Statement Disparaging Tinubu, Says Only Verified Accounts Speak For Him

- ADC Vanguard later deleted the post, apologised, and promised to verify sources before future publications
Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, has cautioned a political support group, ADC Vanguard, against circulating remarks he never made. The warning followed a post shared by the group on X that linked him to a scathing criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s government.
El-Rufai swiftly took to his verified handle to dismiss the comments. He insisted that he operates his own channels where his opinions are clearly expressed and warned that any attempt to assign fabricated quotes to him would be rejected outright.

He added that political groups should not attempt to build relevance through dishonest tactics.
The disputed post by ADC Vanguard, which has since been deleted, accused the Tinubu administration of corruption and favouritism.
The remarks were widely circulated before El-Rufai intervened publicly to disown them. According to him, the problem was not whether he agreed with the message but the fact that the words did not originate from him.
ADC Vanguard retracts El-Rufai statement
Facing backlash, ADC Vanguard issued a prompt apology. The group admitted the error and pledged to refrain from such practices in future.
“Dear Mallam el-Rufai, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. It was never our intention to misrepresent or attribute statements to you,” the group posted, adding that it would now rely only on verified information.
The episode has also triggered reactions within the political space. Some figures in the ruling All Progressives Congress described El-Rufai as self-serving, accusing him of attempting to distance himself from party politics while still engaging in controversies.

Soludo declares Labour Party, ADC 'dead'
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Anambra state governor, Chukwuma Soludo, had described the Labour Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as politically irrelevant in the state following the outcome of Saturday’s by-elections.
Speaking on Sunday, August 17, during a victory celebration in Nanka, the governor said the results showed that the parties backed by former governor Peter Obi and his allies could not stand against the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
According to him, the opposition coalition wanted to use the by-election as a test of strength in Anambra, but the electorate rejected them. He said APGA secured more than three-quarters of the total votes cast, which he described as an emphatic rejection of the rival parties.
