Anambra state - The Anambra state government has dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security outfit following the assault and public stripping of a female corps member, Miss Jennifer Elobor.
The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, announced the decision at the agency’s headquarters in Awka on Wednesday, August 20.

Emeakayi disclosed that the government acted swiftly after receiving reports of the incident, stressing that the dismissed operatives would be handed over to the police for prosecution, Punch reported.
Operatives acted outside their mandate
According to Emeakayi, the operatives were in pursuit of suspected cultists on Tuesday when they accosted and attacked Miss Elobor.

He condemned their actions, describing them as “totally outside the mandate of the agency and utterly unacceptable.”
“The Soludo administration will not tolerate any form of unprofessionalism, brutality, or abuse of office by security operatives.
“Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal and prosecution," he declared.
Soludo rejects quiet resolution
Despite pleas from the victim’s family and officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for a quiet resolution, the state government insisted on pursuing full accountability, TheCable reported.
Emeakayi explained that this stance was necessary to serve as a deterrent to future misconduct.

He disclosed that the government had already offset the victim’s medical bills, replaced her damaged valuables, including a laptop and phone, and issued a public apology to her family, the NYSC, and the general public.
“This incident will serve as a turning point in reforming the outfit and restoring public confidence in community security operations.
“This government is committed to professionalism, accountability and respect for human rights in all security engagements," he said.
Police yet to confirm prosecution
When contacted for confirmation on whether the dismissed operatives had been handed over to the police, the state's police public relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, did not respond to calls or messages.
NYSC speaks over assault of female corps member
Previously, Legit.ng reported that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) condemned the assault on one of its members, Edema Elohor Jennifer (AN/24C/0626), in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state.
The scheme, in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 19, and signed by the management described the incident as unacceptable and reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and security of corps members nationwide.
