FCT, Abuja - Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has faulted the treatment meted out to Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger, after she was remanded in the Kirikiri prison, Lagos.

Yesufu said that how Emmanson was treated and how the case was handled exposed deep inequality before the law in Nigeria.

She accused Nigerian authorities of practising selective justice in the handling of Emmanson’s case.

This was contained in a video she posted on her X @AishaYesufu (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, August 11, 2025, with the caption "Comfort Emmanson Charged to Court But KWAM1 And Adams Oshiomole Walked Free."

Ibom Air vs passenger: “Don’t let Peter Obi set Nigeria on fire,” Reno Omokri warns Nigerians

“We cannot have a nation where we have two justice systems, and depending on your social standing in the society, that will determine the kind of justice system given to you or aligned to you. That is unacceptable.”

Yesufu compared Emmanson’s case with that of Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, also known as KWAM 1, and former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

She said KWAM 1 and Senator Oshimhole did not face any arrests or detention for their separate airline-related incidents.

The human rights activists insisted that “justice must be justice” and must apply equally to all citizens.

“Just the way they asked King Wasiu to come down. King Wasiu Ayinde, according to reports, actually poured whatever he had in the plane and even was stopping an aircraft. But he has not been remanded. He sent in an apology letter, and after an apology letter, he was threatening the airline, and nothing has been done to him.”

Atiku's aide asks when KWAM 1 will be arraigned

Legit.ng earlier reported that Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, August 11, queried when KWAM 1 will be arraigned in court for his controversial behaviour at the Abuja airport.

Ibe's challenge comes as a female passenger was banned for life by Ibom Air for being "unruly". The sanction was pronounced after a row at the MMIA.

Legit.ng reports that videos shared on X (formerly Twitter) showed an enraged Emmanson attacking a flight attendant on an Ibom Air plane and confronting airport security officials.
