BREAKING: Tinubu Reappoints FCC Chairman, Names Secretary, Other Commissioners

FCT, Abuja - Dr Muheeba Dankaka has been reappointed as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) for a second five-year term.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reappointed Dankaka and appointed Mohammed Musa as the Commission's secretary.

The President retained Kayode Oladele from Ogun as commissioner. The former House of Representatives member was appointed in 2024 to serve as the commission's acting chairman following the expiration of Dankaka's first-term tenure.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information & Strategy, made this known in a statement issued on August 11, 2025.

Onanuga said Tinubu also renewed the appointment of Lawal Ya'u Roni, Abubakar Atiku Bunu, and Eludayo Eluyemi, representing Jigawa, Kebbi, and Osun States, for a second term.

The newly-appointed Commissioners are:

2. Mrs. Bema Olvadi Madayi, Adamawa

3. Obongawan Dora Ebong , Akwa – Ibom

4. Hon. Nnoli Nkechi Gloria, Anambra

5. Babangida Adamu Gwana, Bauchi

6. Sir Tonye Okio, Bayelsa

7. Aligba Eugene Tarkende, Benue

8. Engr.Modu Mustapha, Borno

9. Dr. Stella Odey Ekpo, Cross River

10. Ederin Lovette Idisi, Delta

11. Barr. Nwokpor Vincent Nduka, Ebonyi

12. Hon. Chief Victor Sabor Edoror, Edo

Tinubu announces fresh appointment for Abiola's daughter

Legit.ng earlier reported that President Tinubu upgraded the appointment of Rinsola Abiola, the daughter of the late democratic hero and winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, from senior special assistant to the director general of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC).

Onanuga said Abiola is an expert in strategic communication and governance relations. She was serving as a senior special assistant to the president before the new appointment.

Tinubu announced the appointment of Nasir Bala Aminu Ja'oji as his new Senior Special Assistant on Citizenship and Leadership.

Tinubu announces 11 new appointments

In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that President Tinubu appointed executive and non-executive board members for the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO).

This comes nearly a year after the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) unbundled the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) by establishing the NISO.

Tinubu appointed Adesegun Olugbade as board chairman, while Abdu Mohammed Bello was named managing director (MD) of the organisation.
