Driver attacked by hoodlums while repairing truck
According to Raza, Yunusa’s truck had broken down at the junction, prompting him to go into town to find a mechanic. While repairs were underway, two men arrived on a motorcycle armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.
The mechanic and two assistant drivers escaped, but the assailants chased after Yunusa, attacking him until he collapsed. Believing he had died, they set the truck on fire before fleeing.
Raza said he immediately contacted military personnel in Okigwe after learning of the incident. Soldiers arrived at the scene and discovered that the driver was still alive. He was taken to a hospital in Okigwe for emergency care.
By Wednesday, Yunusa was transferred to Dala Orthopedic Hospital in Kano, where he is receiving further treatment. Raza confirmed that the case had been reported to the police in Okigwe.

Efforts to get an official police account were unsuccessful. The spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, told Daily Trust he had not been briefed but would contact the Divisional Police Officer in the area for details.
The repeated attacks in the Ogi Junction area have raised concerns among truck drivers and transport union leaders. Calls are growing for stronger security measures to protect road users along the busy route, which links several key commercial destinations in the South East and South South regions.
