Avon HMO Celebrates with 10th Anniversary Walk: Restates Commitment to Improving Healthcare Access
Leading health maintenance organization, Avon Healthcare Limited (Avon HMO), reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Nigerians from all works of life to live healthier fuller lives recently. Avon HMO organized a walk to mark 10th anniversary tagged, ‘MyCity MyWalk’.
The fitness event which was held at Campos Stadium on Lagos Island was the second in the company’s line-up of activities celebrating its decade of impact in the health sector. In June, the company successfully launched a first-of-their-kind range of ‘critical care top-up health plans’ to positive reviews from regulators, healthcare providers, business leaders and members of the public.

“MyCity MyWalk” was a highly engaging health and wellness outreach which was well attended by residents of the Avon HMO host community in Lagos Island, their healthcare partners and hundreds of people who responded to their invitation for a day of fun and fitness in the city. Also present were the staff of leading companies currently enjoying the Avon HMO cover, including, United Bank of Africa Plc, Sterling Bank Plc, Heirs Life Assurance, Africa Prudential Plc, Lagoon Hospital, Heirs Insurance Brokers, Codix Pharma, Africhange Technologies, Avon Medical Practice, Magna Carta Eye Care, Oyagbola Chambers, to mention a few.
Beyond the walk, there were many other attractions like yoga and zumba sessions with fitness experts taking attendees through various routines. Attendees were engaged with exciting games and fun challenges as well, involving both children and adult participants. In addition, everyone in attendance benefitted from free medical checks carried out by the health partners present with personnel and ambulances on standby. Fortunately, there was no incident and participants departed the venue safely as the event wound up. To wrap things up nicely, there was an entertaining novelty match for football lovers.
According to Adesimbo Ukiri, Avon HMO’s Chief Executive Officer and Healthcare Sector Head of Heirs Holdings, the event turned out exactly as she expected.
“It's been 10 wonderful years at Avon HMO and today was everything we had hoped for. Participation was great; the energy level was high, and we had a wonderful time. There's no better way to celebrate 10 years of Avon HMO than to gather people together to participate in an activity that will ensure they are able to live healthier and fuller lives,” she said.

Also present was the Group Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Tony Elumelu, CFR, who congratulated the board, management and staff of Avon HMO and testified to the company’s passion for helping people develop and maintain healthy lifestyles.

Adesimbo also went down memory lane, noting that My City My Walk is the second installment of Avon HMO’s ‘My City’ series. In 2019, the company organized ‘MyCity MyFootball’, a widely commended health awareness tour of Lagos to support and encourage healthy living in communities across the city. For her, this is one more in a long line of impactful initiatives championed by the company over the years.
