Governor Oyetola Mourns as Osogbo Deputy Chief Imam Dies at 87

Osun state, Osogbo- On Wednesday, December 1, the Deputy Chief Imam of Osogbo, Haroon Adediran, passed on at the age of 87.

The Punch reports that the deceased, who reportedly died after a brief illness, was later buried in Osogbo in accordance with Islamic rites.

In a statement signed by his press secretary, Ismail Omipidan, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola expressed shock at the passage of the cleric.

According to the governor, the late Adediran lived a pious and exemplary life that was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity.

Oyetola further said:

“I am extremely shocked and sad to learn of the passing of our father and Deputy Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Haroon Adediran Samonigogo. His death is a huge personal loss because he was like a father to me.
“Sheikh Haroon was a friend and supporter of our administration and always offered us wise counsel. He will be greatly missed. I pray Allah to forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Aljanah Firdaus.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Ede/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency in Osun on Tuesday, November 30 banned other aspirants who would want to contest in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state from contesting against Governor Gboyega Oyetola in 2022.

The leaders numbering about 100 from the four (4) local government areas, who converged at the Ido-Osun in their numbers for the federal constituency meeting also reaffirmed their support for the re-election of Governor Oyetola.

They all agreed that the governor has done well in terms of infrastructural development in the area, adding that, whoever contests the primary against the governor from the constituency is not known to them and he or she would not have their support in any form whatsoever.

In another report, the governor of Ondo, Rotimi Akeredolu has revealed why his Osun state counterpart should be re-elected for another term.

Akeredolu said Osun state would gain more from Oyetola if he is elected for another four years in office.

The governor who made the disclosure while speaking on the sidelines of the 30th anniversary of the creation of Osun explained that the state government under Oyetola's leadership is doing very well.
