Police Charge Top Immigration Officer to Court Over Raid on Justice Odili’s Home

Abdullahi Usman, an assistant superintendent of immigration, has been nabbed over the recent invasion of the Maitama, Abuja residence of Mary Odili, a Supreme Court justice and wife of a former Rivers state governor, Peter Odili.

The Nation reports that Usman who was arrested by the Nigerian police would be charged this week alongside a journalist, banker, lawyer, a fake police officer, and seven others in Abuja.

Recall that a group of men who claimed to be from a Joint Panel Recovery Unit of the Federal Ministry of Justice invaded the residence of Odili.

Police confirm arrest

Frank Mba, the spokesman for the police on Sunday, November 28, confirmed the arrest of the top immigration personnel, Nigerian Tribune added.

He said:

“It is true. An Assistant Superintendent of Immigration omwas arrested. Approval has been given for all suspects to be arraigned.”

According to the police, two soldiers who allegedly took part in the home invasion are still on the run and security operatives are in pursuit.

Legit.ng previously reported that one of the suspects arrested over the raid on the residence of Mary Odili opened up

The individual who claimed to be a Chief Superintendent of Police was identified as Lawrence Ajojo.

Ajojo, on Thursday, November 11, said he is a consultant to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

Similarly, Nigeria's Attorney General of the Federation denied claims that he employed the services of a 'fake consultant', who lead the raid on the residence of Justice Mary Odili.

Malami on Sunday, November 14, said he has never met with Lawrence who already claimed during his arrest that he was engaged by the AGF.

Responding to the question on his relationship with Ajodo, the AGF said he has never had any interaction with the consultant who has also been described as a quack police officer.
