Tears as Former Nigerian Minister Dies in London Hospital

A former minister of agriculture and water resources, Dr Abba Sayyadi Ruma, has died following a prolonged illness.

Leadership Newspaper reports that Ruma died on Wednesday, October 27, in a London hospital.

The death of the 59-year-old was confirmed by his uncle and Danwairen Katsina, Alhaji Sada Salisu Ruma.

According to Sada, the former minister battled diabetes for a long time before he eventually passed away, Daily Trust reported.

The deceased served as an influential minister during the administration of late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, but was later sacked by then acting president Goodluck Jonathan.

He is survived by two wives and nine children.

Prominent Nigerian Lawmaker Dies

According to an earlier report by Legit.ng, the Cross River State House of Assembly lost one of its very prominent members, Elizabeth Ironbar, who represented Akpabuyo Constituency.

Ironbar died from a protracted illness in the morning of Wednesday, October 27, at the Assembly Village, Ikotenim in Calabar.

The sad news was also confirmed by a family source who spoke with journalists without any disclosure of identity.

The source said:

“Yes, she died this morning after a protracted illness. She is indeed a strong woman."

Former Nigerian Minister Dies After Prolonged Illness

Meanwhile, former minister of agriculture, Malami Buwai, died following a prolonged illness. He died on Monday, August 2, in Gusau, Zamfara state.

The Zamfara state governor, Bello Matawalle, described the death of the former minister as a monumental loss not only to Zamfara state but the country at large.

According to him, Buwai had contributed immensely to the development of Zamfara especially in assisting the needy.

Matawalle prayed to Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late minister and grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
