Her gesture, however, didn’t go well with many, including a Nigerian lady whose video questioning Temi’s decision has since gone viral.
The lady queried why Temi would change a powerful surname like Otedola just because she got married.
According to her, Mr Eazi chose to marry Temi because of her surname. Criticising why women drop their maiden names after marriage, she added that Mr Eazi should have been the one to change his surname, considering how powerful Otedola is.

"How can you change a surname as powerful as Otedola because of marriage? They came to you because of the name, now you’re changing it. Men are getting married to you because of what you have, because of power, what you can bring to the table. Who knows Ajibade? Must you change your surname?" the lady said in part.

"If your value is tied to your father’s name, you were never standing, you were leaning. Temi Otedola became Temi Ajibade not because she lost power, but because she understood covenant. Marriage isn’t a merger of brands. It’s a surrender of ego for the sake of unity."

"Otedola’s daughter changed her surname to that of her husband, and some women are already making it look like a misnomer for a lady with a reputable surname to change her surname to bear her husband’s surname which ain’t as reputable as her previous surname."
