Ruth Otabor's tragic death has continued to make waves as the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) also reacted to her demise.

NAPS, in a statement, expressed grief over the death of Ruth, a student of Auchi Polytechnic, who died following a road crash involving Dangote’s truck.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, NAPS president Eshiofune Oghayan, stated that Ruth's death was another reminder of the dangers faced by students on Nigerian roads.

“Though Ruth was swiftly evacuated to one of Nigeria’s foremost hospitals, she could not survive the severe injuries. Her death is another sad testament to the dangers our students face daily,” the statement read.

Oghayan confirmed that the association is working to provide support for Ruth's family and to honour her legacy.

Additionally, NAPS said it is making arrangements to ensure the two children Ruth left behind receive educational support through scholarships.

"Be assured that Ruth's two children will be awarded full scholarships from primary school through to tertiary education, and steps will be taken to immortalise her in her alma mater, Auchi Polytechnic, as a symbol of our collective struggle for justice and safer roads and of eternal remembrance in the hearts of Nigerian students," the statement read.

In related news, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) also expressed condolences for Ruth's passing.

The Corps disclosed that after the crash, it took proactive steps to engage critical stakeholders towards preventing recurrence.

Dangote Group mourns Phyna's sister

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Dangote Group reacted to the death of Ruth Otabor.

Reacting via its official X handle, the management expressed grief over the event, calling it a tragic loss.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in the recent road incident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State," the conglomerate statement read in part.
