- The viral moment came as academics intensify calls on to NUC clamp down on parody institutions, including Geh Geh University
For ordinary Nigerians, shopping at a crowded electronics plaza would be routine. But for popular skit maker and self-styled financial expert, Geh Geh, it turned into something straight out of a movie.
In a now-viral video, the entertainer was captured strolling into a shopping complex, allegedly to buy an electronic gadget.
What should have been a quiet trip quickly transformed into a spectacle as a large crowd formed behind him.

A viral clipped showed people pointing, shouting, and trying to catch a closer look at the skit maker. Some even abandoned their stalls and purchases to follow him around the plaza.
Geh Geh, who built his fame around parody content like the now infamous “Geh Geh University,” appeared unfazed by the frenzy.
But this sudden wave of attention comes at a complicated time. Only days ago, a coalition of academics petitioned the National Universities Commission (NUC), demanding that it regulate parody universities run by content creators.
Their letter specifically mentioned “Geh Geh University,” arguing that the casual use of the term “university” misleads young Nigerians and undermines real educational institutions.
