Shatta Wale's management has issued a statement following the artist’s detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in relation to an inquiry into his tax obligations concerning the purchase of a yellow Lamborghini.
According to the statement released on Wednesday, 20 August, the singer voluntarily presented himself at the EOCO offices alongside his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo, to assist with the investigation, but was detained in the process.

The management reassured the artist’s fans and the public that his legal team is actively engaged in the matter, taking all necessary steps to ensure his release as soon as possible.
They urged supporters to remain calm and refrain from speculation. The management expressed full confidence in the judicial process and reiterated that they are working closely with the authorities to resolve the situation. Furthermore, it was mentioned that the management, along with Shatta Wale's legal representatives, would return to the EOCO offices the following day to continue the discussions.
They assured that further updates would be provided as appropriate. This development comes shortly after Shatta Wale's new purple Lamborghini Urus landed in Ghana.

"The management of dancehall artist Shatta Wale (Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr.) is issuing this statement following his detention by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) today. "This follows an inquiry related to tax obligations on the purchase of a yellow Lamborghini vehicle. Mr. Mensah presented himself voluntarily at the EOCO offices this afternoon along with his lawyer Cephas Biyuo, to assist with investigations. "We want to assure all fans and the general public that his legal team is fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter. They are taking all necessary steps to secure his release at the earliest opportunity. "We urge the SM Family and all well-wishers to remain calm and avoid any speculation. We have the utmost confidence in the judicial process. "Management and his legal representatives will return to the EOCO offices tomorrow morning to continue these discussions. "We will provide further updates as appropriate."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Shatta Wale faced scrutiny over his N310 million Lamborghini, which the FBI seized due to suspicions it was bought with illicit funds.
The Ghanaian artist, in a series of videos on TikTok, also denied any knowledge of the car’s criminal ties and distanced himself from the situation.
