FCT, Abuja - The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) might cancel the results of 6,319 candidates in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
A Special Committee set up to investigate examination infractions recommended the results cancelation over alleged technology-driven cheating.

The JAMB panel also called for bans ranging from one to three years and the prosecution of the culprits alongside their collaborators.
The committee chairman, Dr. Jake Epelle, said the UTME candidates deployed sophisticated methods, including “finger blending,” AI-assisted image morphing, and false disability claims.
As reported by The Nation, Epelle, who is also the Founder of The Albino Foundation, made this known when presenting the report to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, on Monday, September 8, 2025, in Abuja.
According to the report, there are 4,251 cases of finger blending, 190 cases of AI image morphing, and 1,878 false declarations of albinism.
Epelle said other violations included credential forgery, multiple National Identity Number (NIN) registrations, and syndicate-driven schemes involving CBT centers, schools, parents, tutorial operators, and technical accomplices.
Epelle stressed that existing legal frameworks for addressing biometric and digital fraud were inadequate.
He warned that public confidence in the examination process was at risk.
The JAMB panel proposed AI-powered biometric anomaly detection, dual verification systems, real-time monitoring, a National Examination Security Operations Centre, digitised correction workflows, and stronger disability verification processes.
“Registrar Sir, our conclusion is unambiguous: If left unchecked, examination malpractice will continue to erode merit, undermine public trust, and destroy the very foundation of Nigeria’s education and human capital development.
“But if we act with courage—through bold reforms, technological innovation, cultural reorientation, and uncompromising enforcement—we can turn this tide."

Peter Obi knocks JAMB for blacklisting 17 CBT centres
Recall that Peter Obi kicked against the blacklisting of 17 of the 28 CBT centres in Anambra by JAMB, without informing many of their offences.
Obi explained that the development in the state made it difficult for UTME candidates in the state to access JAMB services.
According to Obi, many candidates now travel far distances to visit the JAMB office, resulting in many of them losing admission opportunities.
