The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a directive requiring all public universities in Nigeria to conclude their 2025 admission processes by 31 October 2025.

JAMB stated that the decision was aimed at stabilising the academic calendar and ensuring equitable access to admission slots across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. The board urged institutions not to delay admissions, even if they are not yet prepared to commence the new academic session.

“Even where an institution is not yet ready to commence the new academic session, such an institution should conduct its admission and archive it,” the board said.

It added, “By this policy directive, all admission processes must be concluded within the prescribed timelines.”

Post-UTME screenings must be concluded promptly

In addition to the admission deadlines, JAMB instructed institutions conducting post-UTME screenings to complete these exercises in good time to comply with the 2025 admission schedule.

“Consequently, institutions conducting post-UTME screenings are expected to conclude those exercises in good time to comply with the 2025 admissions schedule,” the board stated.

JAMB emphasised the importance of early finalisation, noting that timely admissions would contribute to a more consistent and fair academic structure nationwide.
