Carbon Launches Nexus at Lagos Startup Week to Simplify Payments for Nigerian Businesses
Popular digital bank Carbon has launched a new product called Carbon Nexus, designed to help Nigerian businesses collect money from their customers faster, easier, and without confusion.

The product was officially introduced at Lagos Startup Week 2025, where it drew attention from entrepreneurs, tech founders, and small business owners alike. With Carbon Nexus, businesses can now track who paid, when they paid, and how much, all in real time.
“We created Carbon Nexus to help business owners stop guessing,” said Ngozi Dozie, CEO and co-founder of Carbon. “Too many people are constantly asking, ‘Has this person paid?’ or checking bank apps all day. With Nexus, you’ll know instantly and you can plan with confidence.”
How it works
With Carbon Nexus, each customer gets their own virtual account number, so businesses can easily track payments; even if they’re made in parts. The system alerts the business as soon as money comes in, so there’s no need to constantly follow up or reconcile manually.
At launch, Nexus is available to larger businesses and platforms that want to connect directly via API. But later this year, at the end of Q3 2025, Carbon will introduce a merchant-friendly version inside the Carbon Business app, made for regular business owners who don’t write code or have a tech team.
This easier version will let users create virtual accounts using a simple chat interface. It also sends payment notifications by SMS, email, or app alerts, so you’ll always know what’s happening with your money.

Nexus is designed for any business that collects money from customers, especially when payments don’t always come in full or on time:
