It warned that any payments made after September 18, 2025, would not be accepted.

The email reads:

“We wish to inform you that, effective 18th September 2025, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has placed all self-collection gantry sales on hold until further notice,” the mail stated.
“We encourage all active and newly onboarded customers to register for the DPRP Free Delivery Scheme, which remains fully operational and offers a seamless delivery experience to your station.”
The company apologised for any inconvenience the decision might cause, adding, “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we implement this operational adjustment.”

Dangote and marketers lock horns

According to a report by The Guardian, the decision comes amid a dispute between the refinery, the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), and Depot and Petroleum Product Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN).

According to reports, NUPENG accused Dangote Refinery of resisting union activities among its truck drivers despite an agreement brokered by the Nigerian government.

Also, DAPPMAN faulted the refinery’s controversial nationwide fuel distribution plan, saying that marketers are compelled to depend on Dangote’s fleet at commercial prices.

However, Dangote Refinery countered the unions’ claims, saying the plan will keep fuel supplies steady and reduce costs.

It accused the marketers of asking for unrealistic subsidies and causing fuel shortages.

Union dispute: Dangote fires back

A prior report by Legit.ng disclosed that the facility accused leading fuel importers of sabotaging its operations and defrauding Nigerians through inflated petrol consumption data, fraudulent subsidy claims, and the supply of substandard products.

In a paid advertorial response to the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), Dangote alleged that the widely quoted daily petrol consumption figure of 93 million litres is “grossly overstated,” insisting actual demand is less than half the figure.

According to the company, these inflated figures were used for years to justify subsidy payments, crude swap deals, and equalisation fund claims, while ordinary Nigerians endured fuel shortages and adulterated products.
