Filling Stations Crash Petrol Pump Price After Dangote's Decision

  • Some filling station owners have again slashed their petrol pump prices in response to Dangote's petrol price changes

Filling stations have started adjusting petrol prices following the decision by Dangote Refinery to reduce its petrol prices from its facility to marketers.

Checks by Legit.ng revealed that on Wednesday, August 13, petrol prices at MRS Oil and Ardova filling two of the Dangote refinery partners, have dropped to N865 per litre.

The new price announced to customers is N25 lower than the N890 and N895 it was sold previously.

Other fuel stations visited, such as Heyden Mobil, Matrix, and TotalEnergies, were all selling petrol at N875 to N910 per litre on Wednesday

An MRS attendant, Jimoh, told Legit.ng:

"Yesterday, we sold petrol at N890 per litre. This morning, we received instructions to adjust it to N850 per litre."

  • De Petroleum: N900

  • Petrocam: N8
  • Pinnacle: N855

The prices observed on Wednesday afternoon are subject to change due to the drop in petrol market prices.

Why petrol price been reduced

The changes follows the decision by Dangote refinery and private depot owners to slash their petrol prices.

New data shows that their ex-depot price for petrol at major depots now sells between N820 and N870 per litre.

Dangote Refinery recorded one of the biggest drops, cutting its price to N820 per litre from N850 per litre.

MRS TinCan has also reduced its depot petrol prices to N849 from the previous rate of N860, while Ardova reduced to N850, a decrease of N2 or 0.23%.

Zamson slashed its petrol price to N855, a N1 or 0.12% reduction on Tuesday.

Another depot is Parker and A&E, as both cut prices to N853, a fall of N2 or 0.23% and N1 or 0.12%, respectively.

Other changes recorded include Mao as N1 reduced its price to N850, Alkanes dropped its price by N2 to N855, while TSL, Sigmund, and Ever all priced at N860 after reducing by N3 or 0.35%.

Sobaz also made changes, slashing its price by N12 to N858, a drop of 1.38%.

Dangote set for petrol distribution

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Aliko Dangote will launch a nationwide fuel distribution programme on August 15, 2025, which is expected to help lower petrol pump prices.
