How Adamawa Deputy Gov Was Tricked To Quit His Position

The plot against the Adamawa State Governor heralding his removal from office by the House of Assembly has been revealed two days later.

Impeached Governor of Adamawa State Murtala Nyako

According to Vanguard, the Adamawa Deputy Governor had been in talk with the house leadership, who obviously have a strong aversion for Gov. Nyako, fooling him into submitting a resignation letter so as to take the position of the State Governor. Although he was billed to take over from the State Governor, the Deputy State Governor Bala Ngilari was convinced that it is only his resignation letter that can hasten the impeachment process of the State Governor.

However, the Deputy Governor, who did not get wind of the plan which was designed to fool him and rob him of his present political position, went ahead to write a three-paragraphed resignation letter which he submitted to the Speaker with the hopes of being appointed as the Governor, not knowing that the pro-impeachment lawmakers wanted the Speaker, Ahmadu Fintiri, to take over from Nyako instead of Ngilari, in which only Ngilari's resignation letter can make the plan become a reality.

The lawmakers, upon seeing that the Deputy Governor had fallen into their trap, made a public declaration that Ngilari has voluntarily resigned to avoid impeachment using his resignation letter as an evidence against him. Although the law expects him to have submitted his resignation letter to the State Governor, Ngilari got fooled by playing into the hands of his opponents by directly submitting the letter to the House of Assembly.

A top government official in Yola revealed to newsmen yesterday that it was when the shocked politician noticed he has been tricked away from his position that he cried out that he was brainwashed into resigning.

The Governor however has issued a statement refuting the house's proclamation that his deputy has resigned. Backing it up with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Gov. Nyako through his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Sajoh, has made it known that his deputy has not resigned because he did not get a resignation letter from him, and he did not approve any letter bearing the resignation intents of his deputy as the law has provided which still qualifies Mr. James Ngilari as his deputy.

It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan has recently gave conditions that will help save the embattled Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, from an impending impeachment by legislators in his state.
