2016 budget:We Are Making Inquiry Into Its Alleged Dissapearance- Saraki

Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Wednesday, January 13 2016 said that the senate is making inquiry into the alleged disappearance of the 2016 budget submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said this when Enyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia state raised the issue on the floor of the senate.

He said he got numerous phone calls yesterday, Tuesday, January 12 2016 asking for the whereabout of the budget and insisted that the citizens needed answers to their questions.

Saraki while replying Abaribe said that the lawmakers asked to carry out inquiry on the budget are to return with a feedback on Thursday, January 14 2016.

He said: "As you refer to 42 (1) which in this matter was not referred to previously but in this matter because of the importance of this, i will make an exception and respond.

"We were all part of the decision at the closed door meeting yesterday and part of the decision, we are still waiting for those we referred to carry out this assignment to come back to us.

" I think they will come back to us by tomorrow and i we will have a closed door session to finish up the report and debate it properly.

However, Legit.ng recalls that the National Assembly denied rumours that the 2016 budget has disappeared from its premises.

The National Assembly also claimed that both chambers are planning to make copies of the money bill available for the 109 senators and 360 members of the House, adding that they are determined to pass the bill as soon as possible.
