PDP Should Unite To Return People Back In Patry – Dimeji Bankole

A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, asked the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ogun State Chapter, to unite in order to win various offices in the 2015 elections because this victory will not be handed to them on a platter of gold.

During the PDP’s stakeholders’ unity forum held at Ilaro on Monday, Mr. Bankole, who is said to be eyeing the governorship seat in next political dispensation, asked to re-build the structure of the party, because time is no longer on their side.

He cited the Ekiti State governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose’s victory, saying it should "serve as a wakeup call for all the members of the party in Ogun State to unite and work together."

According to Bankole, he is "exceedingly happy with what he is seeing today. It is an indication that disunity within the party is over."

The former speaker urged his party members to go back to different polling units, wards, local and state levels and to hold periodic meetings to encourage our members who have joined other opposition parties to return to PDP.

"We are now one big family. No one should be left behind, everyone is important. We are all equal. Nobody is above the party in the state," he added.

Some former members of the National Assembly from Ogun State, former and present members of the State House of Assembly, party leaders, and party members from the three senatorial districts attended the forum.
